969,181. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDE S.I.B.E. May 22, 1963 [June 4, 1962], No. 20420/63. Heading F1B. In an engine having a carburetter with a main throttle valve 2, Fig. 1, and a suction actuated auxiliary throttle valve 3 actuating the fuel metering valve 4, the length of pipe from the valve 3 to the engine inlet valve 41 is such that at full throttle conditions the engine charging is assisted by resonance set up in the combustion pipe. The valve 3 may be an eccentric flap or a suction-actuated piston and the pipe 24 is made U-shaped to enable the fuel metering rod 16 to be situated close to the throttle 2. In Fig. 1 the metered fuel flows to a nozzle 22 in a by-pass 19 around throttle valve 2. In Fig. 3 the metered fuel flows to a chamber 32, connected to the induction pipe through slot 20a, and is forced by a pump 36 through a distributer 38 to nozzles 40 adjacent the intake valves 41. |
