Determining the consumption of power in a household appliance

The circuit has a sensor (101) for detecting current information and voltage information, and a processing unit i.e. microcontroller (102), coupled with the sensor for determining power consumption of a household appliance. The sensor is inductively coupled with a strip conductor (103), where the strip conductor is connected with a load (104) for supplying alternating current to the load. The sensor is inductively coupled with a wire or another strip conductor (110), which feeds direct current over a resistor (108), where the direct current is proportional to supply voltage (106). The sensor is selected from a group comprising a Hall sensor, an AMR sensor and a GMR sensor. The sensor is a magnetic field sensor or a magnetoresistive sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for determination of power consumption in a household appliance.
