<p>A method of controlling the communication of a data. Block TB1 from a terminal device to a base station in a wireless telecommunications system supporting multiple parallel retransmission protocol processes comprises; making a first uplink transmission of data for the data block in association with a first retransmission protocol process H1 and obtaining a corresponding first acknowledgement indication for indicating whether the data block has been successfully communicated to the base station in response thereto H1(ACK/NACK); making a second uplink transmission of data for the data block in association with a second retransmission protocol process H2(ACK/NACK) and obtaining a corresponding second acknowledgement indication in response thereto, wherein the second transmission is initiated before the first acknowledgement indication is obtained, and the method further comprises determining whether to avoid scheduling a retransmission of data for the data block in association with the first retransmission protocol process by taking account of the second response signalling, for example, to avoid a retransmission of data for the data block in association with the first retransmission protocol process if either one of the first acknowledgement indication or the second acknowledgement indication indicates the data block has been successfully communicated to the base station.</p> |
