A supporting frame assembly 16 and method for its use in building, restoring and maintaining clinker, carvel or fibre plastic boats is disclosed. The assembly comprises a cylindrical frame formed from largely, circular frame members 17 connected by longitudinal stringers 18. In use a boat 5 is supported securely by mounting means 21, 22 and 23 within the horizontally positioned cylindrical frame and means (29 and 30, Fig 5) are provided to rotate the cylindrical frame about its longitudinal axis to give full access to the boat. The boat is constructed inside the cylinder on datum points, planes or lines using the frames and stringers as reaction members from which to locate the various elements, to make the boat and ensure its symmetry and dimensional accuracy. The cylindrical frame may be raised, or lowered, to accommodate different sized users and particular operations. |
