摘要 The purpose of the present invention is to provide a system and a method for monitoring multichannel optical lines at a high speed, which are capable of identifying the failure of an optical line within a short time, compared to an existing optical line monitoring method. In order to achieve the above purpose, according to an embodiment of the present invention, a system for monitoring whether failure occurs on a plurality of optical lines connecting an optical line terminal (OLT) to optical network terminals (ONT) at a high speed is disclosed. The system includes: a plurality of monitoring optical lines respectively connected to a plurality of optical lines using couplers; a remote test unit (RTU) configured to make an optical pulse enter the monitoring optical lines; and a management server configured to control the RTU using the Internet. The management server can determine whether failure occurs on the optical lines connected to the ONT by periodically monitoring the traffic of the ONT using the Internet, and can analyze the present failure condition of an optical line determined to have failure by allowing the RTU to make an optical pulse enter a monitoring optical line, which is connected to the optical line determined to have failure, based on the results of monitoring the traffic of the ONT.
