PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white-based light-emitting diode with high luminance and reduced degradation of luminescence characteristics even in long-time use.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device 100 comprises a light-emitting element 102 in which a light-emitting layer is composed of a semiconductor; and a photoluminescent phosphor absorbing a part of light emitted by the light-emitting element 102 and emitting light having different wavelength from wavelength of the absorbed light. In the light-emitting device 100, the light-emitting layer of the light-emitting element is composed of a nitride compound semiconductor, and the photoluminescent phosphor comprises a garnet-based phosphor activated by cerium including at least one element selected from a group composed of Y, Lu, Sc, La, Gd, and Sm and at least one element selected from a group composed of Al, Ga, and In. |
