The invention relates to a hot-forming device for hot-forming and subsequently press hardening a plate-shaped workpiece (3), wherein in the pressing direction the workpiece (3) has a wedge-shaped cross-sectional area and/or a cross-sectional area having a wave contour, comprising a tool having an upper tool part (21) and a lower tool part (22), which have pressing surfaces. The tool is designed in such a way that the workpiece (3), which has been heated to a temperature above the austenitizing temperature, can be exposed to a pressing pressure produced between the upper tool part (21) and the lower tool part (22), the workpiece thereby being hot-formed, and the hot-formed workpiece (3) then can be quickly cooled down to below the austenitizing temperature. The workpiece (3) can be arranged in relation to the pressing surfaces in such a way that the wedge surfaces of the workpiece (3) are associated with the pressing surfaces or the wave contour surfaces are associated with the pressing surfaces. In the pressing surface of the upper tool part (21) and/or of the lower tool part (22) facing the sections of the workpiece (3) that are to be hardened, a surface structure of elevations (31) and recesses (32) is formed, wherein the sum of the average height of the elevations (31) and the average depth of the recesses (32) of the pressing surface is 1.5 to 5 times the deviation of the inserted workpiece (3) from parallelism. |
