The invention is designed to slim back-massaging devices in the front-to-back direction, wherein the massaging mechanism can be protruded forward or retracted to the original normal position, while maintaining an adequate amount of movement and makes it possible to limit the thickening of the backrest part when configured as a chair-type massage machine. The back-massaging device (4) provided on this chair-type massage machine (1) comprises: a massaging mechanism (10) having right and left massaging members (17) disposed as a pair and equipped with therapeutic elements (21a) that perform the massaging action, and a driving part (18) that transmits the massaging motion to said massaging members (17); a base member (12) that supports the massaging mechanism (10) so that the massaging members (17) face forward; a vertical movement mechanism (13) that can move the base member (12) in the vertical direction within the backrest part (3); and a protrusion amount-varying mechanism (14) that moves the massaging members (17) so as to change how far the therapeutic elements (21a) protrude in the front-to-back direction. |
