The tool comprises a body 3 having an edge 9 for smoothing sealant and two wings 5, 7 one on each of two opposite sides 11, 13 of the body. Preferably the wings are integrally formed with the body and each forms a living hinged connection to allow the wings to extend away from the body through a range of angles. The wings may define a space into which sealant may be collected. The wings and the body may be made from a single sheet. The edge may be concave or flat. The wings may have a tapered edge that tapers toward the smoothing edge. Also claimed is a method of manufacturing the tool by providing a sheet of material and scoring the material to form two hinges that converge towards an edge of the sheet. The tool is used on beads formed from caulking guns. The tool may be used in an inner or external corners. A larger version of the tool may be used for smoothing plaster. |
