A method for configuring communication links in a communication network, such as a mesh network, interconnecting a plurality of devices for distributing data from at least one source device to at least one destination device is disclosed. The method comprises selecting 605, 610, 615 a current interconnection scheme; verifying 620, 625 if the scheme can be implemented for interconnecting devices of the communication network; if it cannot be implemented, selecting 640, based on the current interconnection scheme, a new interconnection scheme; and configuring 630 the communication links according to either the new interconnection scheme or the current interconnection scheme depending on which of them can be implemented. The new interconnection scheme may comprise a higher number of links than the current scheme, or it may comprise at least one group of links not present in the current scheme, but with an equal total number of links and associated capacity. The capacity value of at least one of the links in the new scheme may offer less robustness than that associated with the links of the current scheme. The verifying may comprise verifying a quality of reception data for each link, or whether simultaneous transmission is possible for each pair of links. A device implementing the method is also disclosed. |
