595949 A liquid dispensing system is disclosed. The system comprises a flexible bag (205), for containing a fluid, and a hollow spike (200) positioned through a wall of the flexible bag for drawing off fluid. The hollow spike comprises a hollow shaft (102), with a cone shaped tip (105), having an opening (209) therein, and a plurality of ribs (see 305, figures 2 & 3) independently positioned on an external surface of the hollow shaft such that the ribs circumscribe the hollow shaft. In use, a plurality of the ribs are positioned within the flexible bag walls with at least one of the ribs is external the wall. The ribs advantageously act to retain the hollow spike in the wall of the flexible bag, against inadvertent or forceful removal, and also provide a tighter seal between the flexible bag and the hollow spike. |
