PURPOSE: An image tone mapping device and method are provided to supply a naturally rendered image, thereby improving image quality of the image which tone is mapped. CONSTITUTION: A parameter determination unit(101) obtains a dynamic range of an image and determines a parameter for distribution of light, which is irradiated in a subject of the image, corresponding to the dynamic range of a parameter. A color value calculation unit(102) calculates an original color value of the subject from a color value of the image by using the parameter. A luminance value calculation unit(103) calculates a luminance value from the original color value. A luminance value control unit(104) controls the luminance value. A color value control unit(105) controls the original color value.
