1,003,109. Feeding sheets. R. WINKLER, and K. DUNNEBIER. April 8, 1964 [June 25, 1963], No. 14508/64. Heading B6B. Apparatus for separating envelope blanks having window openings one at a time from the bottom of a pile includes an oscillating member 22 carrying one or more detachable leaf springs 23. At the start of a feed cycle the leaf springs are positioned in the superposed window openings of the envelope blanks. The bottom blank is separated by the usual suction separator (not shown) and rotating gapped discs 5, and withdrawn from the pile by two rotating segments 6 and co-operating rollers 8. As the bottom blank is withdrawn, the rear edge 38<SP>11</SP> of its window opening is deflected below the leaf springs and hence prevented from engaging the front edge 38<SP>1</SP> of the window opening in the superposed blank. After the rear edge 38<SP>11</SP> has moved past the superposed front edge 38<SP>1</SP>, the leaf springs are withdrawn at high speed to free the bottom blank for complete withdrawal. Each leaf spring moves in a guide block 32 secured to a support 35. Each guide block is cut away centrally to provide a guide surface 29. A freely rotatable roller 31 is mounted in said cut-away portion. |
