A wood golf club head (1), which is provided therein with a hollow section (i) and for which a crown section (4) that forms the upper surface of the head is formed from a metal material. The crown section (4) comprises: a heel portion (4a); a toe portion (4b) with a smaller thickness than the heel portion (4a); and a thickness transition section (4c) provided between the heel portion (4a) and the toe portion (4b), the thickness of which decreases gradually from the heel portion (4a) to the toe portion (4b). In the top view of a reference state in which the head (1) is placed on a horizontal plane (HP) with a specified lie angle and loft angle, the thickness transition section (4c) extends as a smooth curve that protrudes towards the toe (T) side. |
