PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface modification sulfide semiconductor particles suitable as semiconductor material for photoelectric conversion element, e.g., a solar cell, and to provide a thin film solar cell manufactured by using the surface modification sulfide semiconductor particles.SOLUTION: Surface modification sulfide semiconductor particles have average particle size of 0.5-100 nm, the surface of sulfide semiconductor particle has at least one kind of functional group selected from a group of functional groups shown by formulae (1), (2) and (3), and is modified by a conjugate organic molecule having 5 or more conjugated double bonds.
