The method involves detecting presence of risk measure of slope driving by sensor on the basis of the inclination angle of slope by taking the speed of vehicle and/or steering angle and/or obstacles to be detected in vehicle environment into account. The control of the safety device is adjusted starting from exceeding predetermined hazard measure of slope trip, so that engine speed is reduced and/or a predetermined braking force is applied. An independent claim is included for a control device with algorithm for controlling safety devices.
