The present technology pertains to a data processing device, a data processing method, and a program whereby the cost of a reception device that receives GSE packets conforming to Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB)-Generic Stream Encapsulation (GSE) can be lowered. An sGSE packet configuration unit configures an sGSE packet being a GSE packet conforming to DVB-GSE, having a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) arranged in a data field, using only a PDU having a maximum size restricted to a prescribed restricted size of no more than 4,096 bytes as the target thereof. The present technology can be applied, for example, when sending or receiving GSE packets. |
