A spinnable mixture comprises a crystalline polyolefin, e.g polypropylene, with from 1 to 25% by weight of a resinous product of the condensation of epichlorhydrin and a primary aliphatic amine containing 3 to 30 carbon atoms or a secondary aliphatic amine containing 4 to 60 carbon atoms or a salt thereof, which condensation product has been further reacted with a secondary aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic diamine; alternatively, the resinous product is the condensation product of epichlorhydrin and a secondary diamine or a primary diamine whose two amino groups act as secondary groups owing to steric hindrance. Suitable diamines are piperazine, dipiperidyl, 1,8 - p - menthanediamine, N,N1 - diisopropylhexamethylene diamine, 1,3 - bis(n - dodecylamine) - 2 - propanol, 4,41 - bis - (methylamine) - diphenylmethane and N,N1-dibutylhexamethylene diamine. A solid dispersing agent may be used to disperse the condensation product in the molten mass. The filaments may be water-insolubilized by treatment with formaldehyde, diisocyanates, diepoxy compounds and cross-linking agents such as divinyl benzene.ALSO:The dyeing of fibres of a mixture of a crystalline polypropylene and an epichlorhydrin-amine condensation product (see Division C3) is improved by pretreating the fibres, before or after stretching, with a water-insolubilizing agent, in particular a 5% aqueous solution of ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether.
