PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel which is beneficial for avoiding the unintended photographing of a photographer in a collapsed state in which full length is more reduced from a normal photographic state.SOLUTION: A lens barrel is configured so as to be variable in length in an optical axis direction in a first region 51 between a wide angle end and a telephoto end and a second region 50 different from the first region 51 in which full length is more reduced from a state that the zoom position of the lens barrel is present at the wide angle end. This lens barrel comprises: an optical system consisting of a plurality of lens including a focus lens; a drive part for moving the focus lens in the optical axis direction; a lens operation member for moving the lens in the optical axis direction by a manual operation, and for changing the length in the optical axis direction in the first region 51 and the second region 50; a detection part for detecting the position of the lens operation member; and a control part for, when it is determined that the zoom position of the lens barrel is present in the second region 50 on the basis of an output 62 of the detection part, allowing the drive part to move the focus lens to a region 58 excluding a focusable range in the second region 50. |
