<p>1,053,904. Stabilizing polyolefins. SOLVAY & CIE. April 6, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 14541/65. Heading C3P. Low pressure polyolefins are stabilized with 0À001 to 5 weight per cent of a phenolic antioxidant and 0À01 to 5 weight per cent of an anionic surface active agent selected from sulphuric and phosphoric esters of fatty alcohols, alkylsulphonates, alkylaryl-sulphonates and sulphonation products of esters which contain 12 to 30 carbon atoms. The compositions may also comprise dialkyl thiodialkanoates, e.g. dilauryl thiodipropionate, and calcium stearate. Specified polymers are polymers and copolymers of ethylene, propylene and butene. Specified antioxidants are 4,4<SP>1</SP>-thiobis(3-methyl- 6-t.-butylphenol), 4,41-butylidene bis(3-methyl- 6-t.-butylphenol) and 2,6-di-t.-butyl-4-methylphenol. Specified surface active agents are sodium lauryl, tetradecyl and dodecylbenzene sulphonates, sodium di(tridecyl) sulphosuccinate and long chain alcohol esters of phosphoric acid. In examples polyethylenes prepared with titanium tetrachloride/aluminium trichloride/tetrabutyl tin catalysts are stabilized with (1 and 13) 4,4<SP>1</SP>-thiobis(3-methyl-6-t.-butylphenol) and calcium stearate together with (2-4 and 14-16) sodium laurylsulphonate, (5 and 17) sodium tetradecylsulphonate, (6) a phosphate esters, (7, 18 and 19) glycerol and (8 and 20) polyethylene glycol; and with (9) 2,6 - di - t. - butyl - 4 - methylphenol and calcium stearate together with (10) sodium laurylsulphonate, (11) glycerol and (12) polyethylene glycol.</p> |
