FIELD: physics, atomic power.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spectrometer measurement means and can be used in atomic power engineering to measure radionuclide activity in highly active gaseous media. Before being fed into a measuring chamber, the controlled medium is fed into a moisture separator, where vapour and droplets of the liquid fraction are separated and removed from the controlled medium. The measuring chamber is filled after evacuating the feed pipe of the controlled medium, the moisture separator and the measuring chamber to remove the controlled medium remaining from the previous measurement. The evacuation process is controlled based the value of the vacuum formed in the measuring chamber and is stopped upon reaching a given value. The process of filling the measuring chamber with the controlled medium is carried out based on a given pressure value formed in the measuring chamber. Before each filling of the measuring chamber with the controlled medium, calibration measurement of activity of a known isotope, which is used to adjust calibration characteristics, is performed. The instantaneous value of radiation intensity is determined after filling the measuring chamber with the controlled medium and a time delay needed for decay of short-lived isotopes. Information on the instantaneous radiation value is used to determine the working collimator which provides optimum statistical conditions of spectrometer measurements. Pressure and temperature values in the measuring chamber, which are taken into account when calculating activity of the controlled medium, are controlled during the entire spectrometer measurement time.EFFECT: high efficiency of the method.2 cl, 1 dwg |
