PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate ruggedness only on a biological tissue such as a surface layer microstructure and hypertrophy.SOLUTION: A subject illuminated by white light W is imaged by a color CCD 44 to obtain a blue signal B, a green signal G and a red signal R. On the basis of these signals B, G, and R, a brightness signal I ((B+G+R)/3) showing the average brightness of the subject is generated. A pixel region exceeding a fixed threshold Th1 of the brightness signal I is extracted as a surface layer microstructure P such as a bit pattern. A surface layer microstructure image 70 from which the surface layer microstructure P is extracted is displayed on a monitor 14. |
