PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive controller for rotary electric machine, capable of generating a torque as indicated by a torque command value at a rotary electric machine without depending on a magnet temperature of a permanent magnet mounted on a rotator.SOLUTION: A drive controller 620 vector-controls an electric current of a rotary electric machine 200 provided with a permanent magnet on a rotator on the basis of a torque command value τ* from a vehicle controller, drives the rotary electric machine 200 using a battery as a power supply, and regeneratively charge the battery with the rotary electric machine 200. The drive controller 620 includes a temperature calculation section 627 that calculates a magnet temperature Tm on the basis of a detection value of a temperature detection section 228, and a current command calculation section 625 that creates different current command values Id*, Iq* corresponding to a magnet temperature Tm for the same torque command value τ* so that a torque τ of the rotary electric machine 200 coincides with the torque command value τ*.
