PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footstep of a passenger conveyor that is soft against force equal to or greater than a predetermined value and durable against the force less than the value.SOLUTION: The footstep of an escalator is provided, which includes: a footstep frame 302; a step board 304 provided on an upper surface of the footstep frame 302; upper square plates 306 arranged in the same surface of a tread and along a right-left direction at an upper corner end part of the footstep; upper support members 318 for supporting the upper square plates 306 so that the upper square plates are movable in a vertical direction only below the surface of the tread; a riser which is provided at a posterior surface of the footstep frame 302, the upper part of which is fixed to the upper square plates 306 and the lower part of which is fixed to the lower part of the footstep frame 302, and which is formed of elastic material that becomes buckled shape from initial shape by downward force equal to or greater than the reference force and is restorable to the initial shape from the buckled shape. |
