The static two-dimensional anti-scatter grid has slats (12) that are made of X-ray radiation absorbing material. The slats are arranged in a hexagonal array structure. The hexagonal array structure is tilted at predetermined degrees within the rectangular outer edges with respect to the pixel elements of the X-ray detector. The slats are partially formed of lead or other material having high atomic number. An independent claim is included for an X-ray detector.
