PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To scavenge air early by reducing an EGR gas remaining in an intake passage upstream a throttle valve upon engine deceleration.SOLUTION: An EGR device of an engine 1 including a supercharger 7 includes: an EGR passage 17 that makes part of exhaust being discharged from a combustion chamber 16 to an exhaust passage 5 flow back to the combustion chamber 16 as an EGR gas; and an EGR valve 18 that adjusts a flow of the EGR gas in the EGR passage 17. In the EGR passage 17, an inlet 17b is connected to the exhaust passage 5 downstream a turbine 9, and an outlet 17a is connected to an intake passage 3 upstream a compressor 8. An electronic control unit (ECU) 50 controls the EGR valve 18 on the basis of a target opening position depending on an operation state detected by various sensors 23, 27, 51 to 55, etc. The ECU 50 evaluates an upper limit opening position of the EGR valve 18 according to an engine speed and a compressor pressure in the intake passage 3 upstream an electronic throttle device 14, and controls the EGR valve 18 on the basis of the upper limit opening position when the target opening position exceeds the upper limit opening position. |
