PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a circuit loss and a switching noise in the case of low-output setting in a flash discharge lamp lighting device having a step-up circuit designed so as to correspond to a high-output setting.SOLUTION: A flash discharge lamp lighting device comprises: a first power supply circuit stepping up and charging an input voltage; a second power supply circuit stepping up an output voltage of the first power supply circuit and outputting it in an operating state, and outputting the output voltage of the first power supply circuit in a non-operating state; a current control circuit receiving an output voltage of the second power supply circuit, and controlling an output current to the flash discharge lamp; and a controller configured to receive a lamp output setting value of the flash discharge lamp, operate the second power supply circuit and the current control circuit in the case that the lamp output setting value is a predetermined threshold or more, and prevent the second power supply circuit from being operated and make the current control circuit operate in the case that the lamp output setting value is less than the predetermined threshold. |
