PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-cylinder engine capable of suppressing consumption of power and deterioration of glow plugs.SOLUTION: A multi-cylinder engine includes glow plugs 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a provided in cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4, respectively, and a glow plug energizing operation device 5. On the basis of the glow plug energizing operation of the glow plug energizing operation device 5, the glow plugs 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a are energized. The multi-cylinder engine further includes a temperature detecting device 6 for detecting an ambient temperature around the engine or the temperature of the engine, and a control device 7. The glow plugs 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a are linked to the temperature detecting device 6 via the control device 7. When the detected temperature detected by the temperature detecting device 6 exceeds a predetermined temperature, even if the glow plug energizing operation of the glow plug energizing operation device 5 is performed, the energization of the predetermined glow plugs are halted. As the detected temperature is higher, the number of the glow plugs whose energization is halted becomes greater. |
