PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter that is stable and excellent in fluidity, and a color filter with good color characteristics and excellent heat resistance formed using a red composition with high lightness and a high contrast ratio.SOLUTION: A coloring composition for a color filter comprises a coloring agent (a), a resin (b), a resin-type dispersant (c), and a solvent (d). The resin-type dispersant (c) has a basic substituent. The coloring agent (a) contains a naphthol azo pigment represented by the general formula (1).
