The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating IL-6 mediated diseases comprising an extract of Portulaca oleracea L. or a fraction thereof as an effective component, and a treatment method of IL-6 mediated diseases including a step of injecting the composition to an individual which is suspected to have IL-6 mediated diseases. Also the present invention relates to a food composition and a composition for outer medical supplies for preventing or treating IL-6 mediated diseases comprising the extract of Portulaca oleracea L. or the fraction thereof as an effective component.
