1,004,894. Automatic pistols. HECKLER & KOCH G.m.b.H. May 8, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 19231/64. Heading F3C. An automatic pistol comprises a grip member 2, a breech carrier 1 slidably movable thereon, a separately produced breech head 9, a striker pin 12 guided in the breech head, a barrel assembly 3 fixedly attached to the grip member, means to feed the cartridges in succession to the barrel and a trigger released hammer 13 operable upon the pin 12. The carrier 1 is formed of a U-shaped steel sheet the lower edges of which are slidably guided in grooves in the member 2. The carrier has a holder member 7 welded thereto to which is attached by means of a screw 8 the breech head 9. The breech head when attached, holds in place the back sight 11 which is slidably received in a dovetail transverse groove. The barrel 3 has a lip which engages in a recess 4 of the grip member and is releasably held therein by a pivoted holder 5 having a roughened surface 26 for manipulation. The barrel and breech head can thus be easily changed so that the pistol can be used with different calibre ammunition.
