Disclosed is a stern tube monitoring apparatus including a propeller for a ship; a propeller shaft installed to be able to rotate and receiving power to rotate the propeller; a stern tube enclosing the propeller shaft; a vibration detecting sensor installed to the stern tube; and a control unit, if the vibration level measured by the vibration detecting sensor is higher than a set level, determining the vibration as an abnormal state to output an alarm signal. A temperature detecting sensor may be installed on the stern tube, and the control unit can detect the abnormality using the values detected by the vibration and temperature detecting sensors. Therefore, it is possible to quickly recognize the abnormality of the stern tube enclosing the propeller shaft and then take measures to the abnormality. [Reference numerals] (160) Control unit |
