The present invention relates to a method and a system for monitoring a parameter of a tire of a vehicle using a wheel unit (4a-4d) assigned to the tire, wherein the wheel unit is adapted to send data packets relating to the parameter of the tire to a vehicle based receiver (5). The method according to the invention comprises the steps of encoding (S2, S15) at least a part of each data packet with an authentication marker by the wheel unit and decoding (S5, S19) the encoded part of the data packets received at the receiver with an expected authentication marker. At the receiver it is verified (S6, S20) if the decoded data packets are valid. |
