摘要 An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to prevent light leakage from being generated above pixel electrodes or common electrodes of a lower substrate by forming a black matrix above an upper substrate correspondingly to the pixel electrodes or the common electrodes. A first substrate(110) and a second substrate(150) face each other. A gate line and a data line(118) cross each other to define a pixel region above the first substrate. A thin film transistor is formed at a crossing portion of the gate line and the data line. A common line(130) is parallel with the gate line. A plurality of pixel electrodes(126) are connected to the thin film transistor within the pixel region. A plurality of common electrodes(134) are branched from the common line, and disposed alternately with the pixel electrodes. A black matrix(152) is formed above the second substrate correspondingly to the gate line, the data line, the thin film transistor, and the pixel electrodes. A color filter layer(154) is formed above the second substrate correspondingly to the pixel region. The black matrix is disposed correspondingly to the gate line, the data line, and the thin film transistor so as to prevent light from passing through a region except the pixel region. The black matrix is disposed correspondingly to the pixel electrode so as to prevent the generation of light leakage due to unmoved liquid crystals above the pixel electrodes.
