1,009,536. Reciprocating pumps; Syringes. W. DAN BERGMAN A.B. Oct. 28, 1963 [Oct. 29, 1962], No. 42450/63. Headings F1A and FIR. [Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A reciprocating .pump used for supplying regular pulses of lubricant to a machine comprises a slow speed reciprocating motor which has the energising coil 1 supplied through a thermal switch 12 embedded in the winding (see Division H2). The core 3 of the motor is held in the position shown by spring 4 when coil 1 is de-energised and uncovers the connection between lubricant reservoir 13 and chamber 16. When the core 3 is pulled into the coil rod 8a is displaced to the right to pump the lubricant from chamber 16 through spring loaded ball valve 10a into feed pipe 20. The speed of the pump may be varied by altering the heat transfer characteristics of the coil. The reservoir 13 which employs spring loaded plunger 17 to pressurize the liquid may be replaced by a container having an elastomeric wall, Fig. 4a (not shown), if the pump is used in a situation where an external pressure is present, e.g. for lubricating a submersible pump.
|
