Controlling a medical device depending on neutral electrode impedance

The method involves disabling the operation of the electrosurgical device (10) if the impedance between at least two sections of the neutral electrode (15) exceeds a first limit value, generating a warning signal. The device operation is then enabled upon inputting a corresponding user command. The enabling operation is performed only if the impedance is below a second limit value that is higher than the first limit value. An independent claim is also included for an electrosurgical device.
