An ion-exchange process with suitable regeneration and washing is carried out in a plurality of rotating containers which are timed to halt for periods sufficient for any particular stage of the process to be complete for any one container. The containers for ionexchanger 5 rotate on structure 3 by intermittent movements governed by timer (not shown). Each container has a support for exchanger 8, discharge pipe 10 leading to launder 12 and a feed distributer 11 also subject to the timer in respect of the liquid fed thereto. Backwashing is achieved by coupling to discharge pipe 10 and discharge through pipe 14 and launder 15. |
