摘要 The present invention relates to a gas phase polymerization reactor capable of increasing the polymerization productivity of polyolefin by increasing the polyolefin concentration of a flow layer in which polyolefin particles are polymerized, and a method for polymerizing alpha-olefin using the same. The gas phase polymerization reactor comprises: a reactor which receives cycling gas including inert gas and at least one alpha-olefin and forms polyolefin polymerization particles in a polymerization area; a discharge device which receives the polyolefin polymerization particles discharged from the polymerization area of the reactor and includes a polyolefin polymerization particle outlet; and an external circulating loop which compresses and cools the circulating gas discharged from the upper part of the reactor, supplies and circulates the gas to the reactor and discharge part, discharges the polyolefin polymerization particles and circulating gas from the lower part of the discharge device and supplies the polyolefin polymerization particles and circulating gas to an extra space area formed in the upper part of the polymerization area of the reactor.
