PURPOSE: Extracts of Taraxacum offininale, Acanthopanax senticosus, red ginseng, Rosa laevigata, Artemisia princeps, and Ginkgo biloba L. are provided to suppress 5 alpha-reductase which is related to alopecia and prostatic hypertrophy, and to develop a composition for preventing alopecia or prostatic hypertrophy. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing alopecia contains one or more selected from extracts of Taraxacum offininale, Acanthopanax senticosus, red ginseng, Rosa laevigata, Artemisia princeps, and Ginkgo biloba L. The extracts are prepared using an ethanol solution. Alopecia is suppressed by inhibiting testosterone 5 alpha-reductase. A composition for preventing prostatic hypertrophy contains one or more selected from extracts of Taraxacum offininale, Acanthopanax senticosus, red ginseng, Rosa laevigata, Artemisia princeps, and Ginkgo biloba L. |
