The device has a filling head (10) connected to a main power network (16) and connected with a valve (6) of a to-be-filled gas bottle (5) at a working end in a watertight manner. An opening protection and centering bell surrounds the valve in a non-gas-tight manner. Draining devices (12, 14, 15) suck a quantity of residual gas preserved in the working end of the filling head after filling of the gas bottle. The filling head is adapted to open the valve in an advanced position by exerting a compressive force and to close the valve in a moved back position by slackening the compressive force. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a machine for filling a gas bottle with domestic gas (2) a method for filling a gas bottle with domestic gas.
