A machine tool (30) provided with: a main control unit (110) for controlling the axial movement of the tool attachment device and/or the work attachment device; automatic operation mode buttons (15) and manual operation mode buttons (16) for switching between manual operation modes and automatic operation modes; axis selection buttons (20-29) and an axis selection dial (166) for selecting the axis along which axial movement is to be performed by the main control unit (110) in the manual operation mode; a door (37) for covering the area (70) for processing of the workpiece by a working tool (48); and a window (39) provided in the door (37) through which the worker can monitor the processing area (70). The machine tool is provided with a transmissive display device (60) for displaying the movement direction of the axis selected by operating an axis selection button (20-29) or the axis selection dial (166) on the window (39).
