The device has an annular inner seal (6) and an annular outer seal (7) arranged on a floor covering facing side of a plate-like housing (5). The outer seal surrounds the inner seal. The seals are supported at a floor covering. A vacuum generation device is arranged in a space (8) between the seals to apply vacuum and fix the device on the covering. A vacuum generating suction device is arranged within the inner seal for suction of moisture present below the covering. Spacers (9) are arranged on a floor covering facing side of the device in the space enclosed by the outer seal. The spacers are made of resiliently deformable material.
