PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which can easily and satisfactorily correct a chromatic aberration of magnification, and has a high zoom ratio and a wide angle of view.SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes, in order from the object side to the image side: a first lens group having a negative refractive power; and a rear group including one or more lens groups, and when zooming, the distances between adjacent lens groups are changed. The zoom lens includes an aperture stop on the image side of the first lens group. At the wide angle end, the composite focal distance of the rear group is positive. One lens group LG on the object side of the aperture stop has an optical element GnNL formed of a solid material and having a negative refractive power and an optical element formed of a solid material and having a positive refractive power. The Abbe number &ngr;dnNL and the partial dispersion ratio &thetas;gFnNL of the material of the optical element GnNL, the partial dispersion ratio &thetas;gFpNL of the material of an optical element GpNL having a positive refractive power which is included in the lens group LG and whose material has a largest partial dispersion ratio, the focal distance fnNL of the optical element GnNL in the air, and the focal distance fG of the lens group LG are appropriately set, respectively. |
