PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy member installation ship capable of installing a heavy member so as to maintain a stable state for a long period of time, and a heavy member installation method using the ship.SOLUTION: A hull 5 has a sinker storage position P1 an anchor storage position P2, and has a through hole through which the sinker 2 or the anchor 3 can pass, between the positions. one end of a mooring chain 9 is connected to the sinker 2 relaying the anchor 3, and the other end side is stored on the hull 5. A portal crane 14 which holds the sinker 2 or the anchor 3, drops it into the water through the through hole, and installs it to the bottom of water; preload means for applying preload to the sinker 2 by pulling the mooring chain 9 connected to the sinker 2 toward the anchor 3, which is remote by a fixed distance from the sinker 2 installed to the bottom of water, in a horizontal direction; and determination means for determining whether or not an installed state of the sinker 2 is stable in applying preload. |
