The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for automatically winding a foil on a candle wherein the foil is automatically wound on the lower periphery of the candle, thus efficiently producing the candles in large quantities, and the candle has a collected winding portion formed on a winding portion formed on the lower periphery thereof, so that the foil is maintained in the close wound state, without being unwound from the candle. According to the present invention, the candle rolls on the foil by means of a twist bar to form the foil winding portion thereon, and the lower end portion of the foil crosses an upper friction piece and a lower friction piece, thus forming the collected winding portion on the lower end periphery of the foil winding portion. Accordingly, the foil wound on the lower end periphery of the candle is dually wound, without being unwound from the candle, thus providing stable qualities of birthday cake candles having in large quantities through the apparatus having such simple configuration.
