Fuel filter system

The system (14) has a main filter (50) that is adapted to be arranged upstream of a high pressure injection pump (28), and a base plate (22) that is arranged upstream of the main filter. The main filter is provided downstream of a reservoir (26) that comprises a support sleeve (22M) for a prefiltration filter (56). A hydraulic distributor (18) allows selective filtration of the fuel either by the main filter only in the absence of the prefiltration filter or by both filters when the prefiltration filter is supported by the support sleeve equipping the base plate. An independent claim is also included for a fuel supply system.
