A method and an apparatus for providing sign information are disclosed. The method for providing the sign information according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: extracting a predefined first sign from an input image; extracting a second sign representing information that corresponds to the first sign with the first sign as a center from the input image; and providing at least one information of the information for the first sign and the information for the second sign in a voice. According to the present invention, the information that the sign means can be accurately recognized.
