PURPOSE: A firewall engine and a packet matching method using the same are provided to output a matching result by receiving a packet. CONSTITUTION: A first sub matching unit(40-1) stores a first rule group. A second sub matching unit(40-2) stores a second rule group. The first sub-matching unit matches with one of the rules included in the first rule group for a reception or a transmission packet.
