<p>The present invention relates to fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder which is capable of improving the acid resistance of glass ionomer cement for dental purposes, and a production method thereof. A lanthanum compound eluting under the presence of polycarboxylic acid and water only exists on a surface layer of the fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder. The content of the fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder is preferably 1-5 wt% based on oxide. The fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder is obtained by mixing and heating fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder which does not contain lanthanum with an aqueous solution of the lanthanum compound. The aqueous solution of the lanthanum compound is an aqueous solution of a water soluble lanthanum compound, and preferably a lanthanum nitrate aqueous solution or lanthanum chloride aqueous solution.</p> |
