The device comprises a receiving container (1), in which a mixing and comminution tool (3) that rotate about an axis of rotation (10) for mixing and heating the plastic material is arranged. A conveyor (5) is provided for discharging the plastic material from the receiving container having a screw (6), which rotates in a housing (16). The conveyor is joined at its material inlet side to the interior of the receiving container through an opening (8) formed in a side wall (9) of the receiving container for introduction or feeding of the material. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a device for processing and recycling a thermoplastic plastic material.
